Queensland workers operating plant machinery or performing high risk work with old paper tickets issued before March 1992 are encouraged to contact Workplace Health and Safety Queensland now to be issued with a new licence.

Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations John Mickel said workers' details must be lodged before Monday June 30, 2008 as part of a new national licensing system.

"The new system is part of a national agreement announced last July,'' he said.

"The system will go a long way to ensuring greater safety in the workplace, increased training and will make it easier for workers to work interstate," Mr Mickel said.

"I urge all workers who have not already done so to contact Workplace Health and Safety Queensland as soon as possible.

"Workers who do not contact Workplace Health and Safety Queensland will not be able to work with their current pre-1992 tickets after 30 June."

To change your details or to register to receive more information as the changes are introduced visit www.deir.qld.gov.au or call the Licensing Hotline on 1300 655 986.
