Golden West Apprenticeships (GWA) is a Group Training Organisation (GTO) and operates under the formal framework of the National Standards for Group Training Organisations. We are authorised and registered to use the Group Training Logo.

Below we will try and answer the most frequently asked questions about apprenticeships and traineeships and also explain (provide definitions) of some of the frequently used terms and acronyms. What are the responsibilities of a Group Training Organisation?

A GTO's responsibilities include:

  • undertaking the employer responsibilities including wages and other employment benefits and payments
  • manage of the quality and continuity of training - both on-the-job and at vocational institutions
  • providing additional care and ongoing support to provide the apprentice and trainee with every opportunity to have successful completion of their training contract and gain a nationally recognised qualification.

What is the role of Australian Apprenticeship Support Network?

An AASN is contracted and fully funded by the Australian government to administer training contracts and administer incentive payments and benefits to apprentices and trainees.

How can Golden West Apprenticeships help my business?

We are a Group Training Organisation. As part of our service, we provide your business with direct recruitment, employment, training and mentoring. We help streamline administration, avoid duplication of services and make the employment experience a satisfactory and rewarding one for everyone involved. 

How does the payroll and invoicing work?

Golden West pays the apprentice or trainee weekly and then sends an invoice for reimbursement. This can be paid by cheque, direct credit or taken weekly via our direct debit system.
