Maranoa jobseekers given golden opportunity to spark careers in the energy industry

Aspiring young professionals in Maranoa are being given a golden opportunity to ignite their careers in the dynamic energy sector.

Thanks to an ongoing partnership between Golden West Apprenticeships and Origin Energy – the upstream operator for Australia Pacific LNG – apprentices and trainees have the opportunity to receive paid, on-the-job training at Origin, while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

The 2024 Intake, set to commence in January, will be placed in a variety of positions across Origin’s operations, including electrical, process gas and water treatment. The partnership between Golden West Apprenticeships and Origin began in 2021 and has already resulted in the successful completion of nine apprentices and trainees.

This latest intake reinforces the collaboration between the organisations, showcasing their shared commitment to supporting local communities, creating long-term career pathways, and fostering employment opportunities.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Origin and support their dedication to local employment and training,” said Camille Johnson, Chief Executive Officer at Golden West Apprenticeships.  “This commitment is crucial for the Maranoa, ensuring that young individuals have access to the necessary skills and opportunities to forge successful careers, thereby cultivating a skilled and qualified workforce for the region’s future.”

Origin General Manager Asset West Aleta Nicoll said “Origin is committed to contributing to the creation of a thriving and resilient future for the communities in which we live, work and play.
“Supporting local apprenticeships benefits not only our operations, it offers a brighter future for Maranoa jobseekers entering the energy sector.”
